OSC data is kind of like MIDI, in that it lets you control things with other things. For example, you can have a knob on your keyboard controller move the filter cutoff frequency on your sequencer. But it’s UNLIKE MIDI in that OSC is a lot smoother, and can do a whole lot more.

I’m not going to go into all of what that whole lot more is, but imagine being able to control your beats with a Wiimote, or a bluetooth something. That’s what OSC lets you do.

There is an App for iPad called TouchOSC that let’s you do all sorts of cool OSC stuff, right on your iPad. It’s completely customizable, but it’s a bit of a pain to set up. That’s what these tutorials are for. I made them with DubSpot, a school in NYC.
